You can use lists to organize your contacts into groups in order to send timely and relevant messages to your audience.

Types of lists in Iterable
There are four types of lists in Iterable: static, dynamic, suppression, and internal.
Static lists
A static list is a send list that consists of a set of users that doesn't change unless it's manually updated (for example, when you upload a CSV file to Iterable or when a user fills out a sign-up form).
Dynamic lists
A dynamic list is a send list that's built with Iterable's Segmentation tool. Dynamic lists automatically find and update groups of users based on shared attributes (for example, users who have opened an email within the past 90 days).
Suppression lists
A suppression list is a group of users who should be excluded from receiving certain campaigns (for example, you probably don't want to send a re-engagement campaign to users with a positive Brand Affinity label).
You can select suppression lists to exclude certain users from receiving blast campaigns and journeys.
IMPORTANT
Adding a contact to a suppression list does not prevent them from receiving all campaigns. Suppression lists only prevent contacts from receiving the specific campaigns that the suppression list is applied to.
Internal lists
An internal list is a send list that consists of a group of people within your organization (it should not include any user contact info). You can use internal lists to send proofs of messages to your teammates without worrying about accidentally sending a campaign to customers before you're ready to.
List Type | Can Be Created By | Used For |
---|---|---|
Static |
| Sending campaigns to users |
Dynamic | Saving the results of a search on the Segmentation page | Sending campaigns to users |
Suppression | Uploading CSV data on the Lists page | Preventing users from receiving campaigns |
Internal | Uploading CSV data on the Lists page | Testing campaigns prior to sending |
Viewing your project's lists
The Lists page is where you can view and manage your existing lists, import new lists, export a list of unsubscribed users by channel, add or remove subscribers from a channel, and delete lists.
To view your project's lists, go to Audience > Lists.
Viewing the current size of a dynamic list
The number of users in a dynamic list fluctuates over time as new users are added and/or existing users are removed. On the Lists page, the total number of users in a dynamic list (shown in the Contacts column) is updated once per hour — so the number being displayed on the Lists page may not be the most current number. To see the most up-to-date size of a dynamic list, you can open the list or refresh the Lists page after an hour.
Dynamic lists always include all the users who match the defining segmentation query, even if the list size hasn't been updated on the Lists page yet. When you send a campaign to a dynamic list, the campaign is sent to all the users who match that list's segmentation criteria at send time.
NOTE
The displayed list sizes update in each of your projects separately, depending on when you access Audience > Lists in the project. If you have more than one page of dynamic lists, each page updates independently based on when you open the page.
