The Lists page is your central hub for creating and managing audience lists in your Iterable project. From this page, you can view, sort, and filter your project's lists, organize them into folders, subscribe and unsubscribe users, and edit or delete lists.
To learn more about the different types of lists available in Iterable, see Lists Overview.

# Viewing your project's lists
To view your project's lists, go to Audience > Lists. The Lists page displays all of your project's lists in a table that includes:
- Name: The name of the list
- Type: Whether the list is static, dynamic, suppression, scheduled, or internal. Suppression lists with the global setting enabled appear as global suppression lists.
- ID: The list's unique ID (useful for certain calls to Iterable's API)
- Users: The number of users currently on the list
- Description: Any description you've added to the list
- Last Modified: The date the list was last modified by a member of your team
Use the search bar at the top of the page to quickly find a specific list by name or keyword. You can also click the interactive column headers or the Filters button to sort and filter your lists.
# Viewing a specific list
To view a specific list, click the name of the list to open it. From here, you can see more detailed information about the list, including the segmentation query that determines list eligibility (dynamic lists), all users currently on the list, metrics associated with user demographics and behavior, and the campaigns and journeys where the list is used.
# Viewing the current size of a dynamic list
The number of users in a dynamic list fluctuates over time as new users are added and/or existing users are removed, according to their eligibility (determined by the associated segmentation query). On the Lists page, the total number of users in a dynamic list (shown in the Users column) is updated once per hour—so the number displayed on the Lists page may not be the most current number. To see the most up-to-date size of a dynamic list, open the list or refresh the Lists page after an hour.
Dynamic lists always include all the users who match the defining segmentation query, even if the list size hasn't been updated on the Lists page yet. When you send a campaign to a dynamic list, the campaign is sent to all the users who match that list's segmentation criteria at send time.
NOTE
The displayed list sizes update in each of your projects separately, depending on when you access Audience > Lists in the project. If you have more than one page of dynamic lists, each page updates independently based on when you open the page.
# Selecting multiple lists
To select multiple lists:
- Use the checkboxes on the left side of each list row to select individual lists.
- To select all lists on the current page, use the checkbox in the table header.
Once you've selected one or more lists, you can perform the following bulk actions:
- Move to folder: Move selected lists into an existing folder or create a new folder for them
- Delete: Delete the selected lists (see Deleting Lists)
# Managing global suppression lists
If you use suppression lists in your project, you can enable or disable the global setting for a list from the Lists page.
- Find the suppression list you want to manage.
- Click the overflow menu (three dots) for the list.
- Select Enable Global to make the list apply to all campaigns and journeys, or Disable Global to remove the global setting.
Alternatively, you can click the Enable Global or Disable Global button from the list's details page.
For more information about global suppression lists, see Lists Overview.
# Creating a new list
To create a new list, click New List and choose the type of list you want to create.
For more detailed information about creating lists, including CSV import requirements and best practices, see Adding Users and Creating Lists.
# Organizing lists into folders
To group similar lists together on the Lists page and make them easier to find, use folders.
To create a folder, go to the Lists page and click New Folder.
Give your folder a name (maximum 150 characters) and click Create Folder.
-
Add your desired lists to your new folder.
To move a single list into a folder, click the overflow menu (three dots) for the list you want to move and select Move to Folder from the dropdown menu.
To move multiple lists into a folder at once, use the checkboxes to select the lists you want to move, then click Move to Folder.
You can nest folders up to 10 levels deep.
TIP
Folders can only be used to group resources of the same type (you can't add lists, templates, campaigns, and journeys to the same folder). There is a separate set of folders for your Lists, Templates, Campaigns, and Journeys pages.
# Editing lists
You can edit a list's name and description at any time.
- Click the list you want to edit to open its details page.
- Click the pencil icon next to the list name or description.
- Make your desired changes and click Save.
NOTE
You cannot change a list's type after it has been created. If you need a different type of list, you'll need to create a new list.
# Adding and removing users
To add or remove users from an existing list:
- Find your list and click the overflow menu (three dots), or click the list's name to open its details page.
- Click Update.
- Upload a CSV file containing the new users, or input the fields manually to update the users on the list.
For more information, see Adding Users and Creating Lists.
# Exporting lists
You can export the lists you create in Iterable for use in third-party services and for backup purposes.
# Exporting a list as a CSV file
- Click the list you want to export to open its details page.
- Click Save As... > Export As CSV File.
- Select the fields you want to include in the export.
- Click Export to download the CSV file.
# Exporting a list as a Facebook Custom Audience
You can also export lists of users to Facebook if you're using Iterable's integration with Facebook. To learn how, see Facebook Custom Audiences.
# Exporting a list as a Google Ads Audience
You can also export lists of users to Google Ads if you're using Iterable's integration with Google Ads. To learn how, see Google Ads + Iterable Integration.
# Deleting lists
To delete lists that you no longer need:
- Open the list you want to delete, or open the overflow menu (three dots).
- Click Delete List.
It isn't possible to delete a list that is currently in use by active campaigns or journeys. If you attempt to delete a list that's in use, you'll see an error message. Click View References to see which campaigns and/or journeys are sending to the list, verify that these campaigns and/or journeys should no longer be sent to the list, then remove the list from the audience of the associated journeys and/or campaigns before deleting it.
WARNING
Deleted lists cannot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need a list before deleting it.
