Studio is Iterable's journey-building tool. This article explains the basics of how to use and get around in Studio.

# Accessing Studio
To access Studio, go to Messaging > Journeys. If you want to edit an existing journey, select it from the list. To create a new journey, click + New journey. Either action will automatically open the Studio canvas.
Once you're in Studio, you're ready to start working with your journey, using the actions described in the rest of this article.
# Take a tour
The ?
icon at the top of the screen is Studio's self-service help center. Open
this menu for quick links to Iterable's support documentation,
Iterable Academy, and a menu of Studio
navigation tips and hotkeys.
Click the ...
icon to see your journey's settings or version history, or to
duplicate the journey.
The chat icon gives you quick access to Iterable's support chat.
The Review tab gives you performance suggestions and helps you resolve issues before you publish a journey.
To search the canvas for a specific word or tile ID, click the magnifying glass icon and type your search term into the text entry box that appears.
The ^
button at the bottom left of the screen lets you reset or delete the
current draft of the journey, or save the journey as an image.
# Configuring journey settings
The Settings menu lets you configure and view important details about your journey. To access a journey's settings, click the overflow menu (three dots), then select Settings. From here, you can review details about the journey, configure metrics that you can use to monitor your journey's performance, and edit the journey's exit rules.
# About tab
The About tab contains basic details about your journey like its name, ID, description, and labels. You can also see when the journey was created and last modified and by which team member.
NOTE
You can only add existing labels to a journey. To create a new label, go to your Project Settings page. See Working with Labels to learn more.
# Conversion & Metrics tab
The Conversion & Metrics tab lets you view and configure settings for tracking your journey's performance. From here, you can set or update your journey's conversion event(s) and choose which metrics to display on your journey's tiles.
To learn more about these settings, see Monitoring Journey Engagement.
# Exit Rules tab
In the Exit Rules tab, you can add or edit your journey's exit rules.
To learn more about setting up exit rules, see Defining How Users Exit Journeys.
# Working with tiles
Before you start creating your journey, it's helpful to understand how to situate them on the Studio canvas. Clean, easy-to-read journeys are easier to manage and update, so take your time when setting them up.
# Adding tiles
There are two ways to add tiles to the canvas:
# Option 1: Click and drag
To add a tile, grab a tile from the panel and drag it onto the canvas.
# Option 2: Generate tiles with AI
With Journey Assist, you can describe the kind of journey you want to build, and the relevant tiles are automatically generated for you.
To learn more about using Journey Assist, see Journey Assist.
# Deleting tiles
WARNING
When you delete tiles from a live journey, any users who are in those tiles at the time you publish your changes will be removed from the journey.
To delete a tile, hover over it on the canvas and click the trash can icon.
NOTE
When you delete a message tile from a published journey, the campaign is not deleted — it's still listed on the Campaigns page. The campaign's state stays the same, and all of the campaign's metrics are still viewable on the Campaigns page and in Messaging Insights. However, on the Journeys page, the campaign no longer appears in the list of campaigns asssociated with the journey.
# Selecting tiles
Click a tile on the canvas to select it. A black bar appears around the tile when it is selected.
Hold Shift and click to select multiple tiles.
Or hold Shift and use your mouse to draw a square around the group of tiles you want to select.
# Moving tiles
Click and drag a tile (or group of tiles) to move it around on the canvas.
# Setting up tiles
After you've dragged a tile onto the canvas, double-click it to open its tile settings menu.
When you’ve finished configuring the tile settings, click Update to save your changes.
To learn more about the settings available in each tile type and how to configure them for your use case, see the following support docs:
# Copying tiles
Select a tile or group of tiles and click Duplicate to make a copy of your selection. Or use Ctrl/Cmd + C and Ctrl/Cmd + V to copy/paste your selection on the canvas.
# Connecting tiles
Connecting two tiles creates a path between them. Any users that go through the journey will travel from one connected tile to the next.
To connect two tiles in a journey, drag a line between their connection points.
# Disconnecting tiles
To remove a connection between two tiles, hover over the connection line and click the trash can icon.
# Creating a tileset
Tilesets are groups of tiles that you can save and reuse in multiple journeys. To create a tileset, select a group of tiles on the canvas and click Create tileset.
When you save a tileset, all of your tile settings save too (except for message tiles — you'll need to set up the details for your campaigns individually).
Once you've created a tileset, you and your teammates can quickly add it to any journey within the same project. When you add a tileset to a journey, you can edit, move, or delete the individual tiles if you need to.
NOTE
Tilesets are not like snippets. If you edit a tileset, your changes won't be reflected in any of the journeys that contain that tileset.
# Adding a note
With notes, you can leave comments or suggestions, explain how a stage of a journey works, or remind your teammates not to disconnect certain tiles.
You can put notes directly on the canvas or attach notes to specific tiles.
NOTE
Notes are just like tiles — if you click Align connected tiles, they'll move. To attach a note to a specific tile so they stay together when you move things around, add your note inside the tile settings menu.
# Saving a journey
To save your progress as you're building a journey, click Save draft. Journeys are not autosaved, so make sure to click Save draft every time you make changes.
NOTE
You can find all of your drafts under the Drafts tab of the Journeys page.
