When setting up a blast campaign, you'll need to choose who should receive it. To do this, you can select static lists, dynamic lists, suppression lists, and internal lists.
For API-triggered campaigns and journey campaigns, there's no need to choose an audience. Instead, send those campaigns by making API calls or adding users to their associated journeys.

Campaign audience details
While you're setting up a campaign, the Audience area shows:
Recipients - An estimated number of recipients for the campaign. Based on the selected lists.
Send Lists - Lists of users to whom the campaign should be sent.
Suppression Lists - Lists of users to whom the campaign should not be sent, even if they're on a selected send list.
NOTES
- If a user has opted out (or hasn't opted in) to the message type you've associated with your campaign's template, they won't receive the campaign. This is true even if they're included on a selected send list.
- A user included on more than one of a campaign's send lists will receive the campaign only once.
Selecting lists
To choose send and suppression lists for a campaign, click Select Lists. Then, use the various tabs to select lists:
Standard lists identify a specific set of members by user ID or email. You can use them to select users (send lists), or to exclude them (suppression lists).
Dynamic lists select users dynamicaclly based on their user profile fields and events. You can use them to select users (send lists), or to exclude them (suppression lists).
Suppression lists are static lists that can be used only to suppress users from a campaign.
Internal lists should only contain internal users to which you'd like to send test campaigns and proofs.
