Iterable's integration with Meta lets you export static and dynamic lists from Iterable and create custom audiences in Ads Manager.
Ads Manager is an ad targeting option that lets you find people who interact with your business on Meta. You can use sources like customer lists, engagement on Meta, and website or app traffic to create custom audiences.
To learn how to use Custom Audiences to engage with your users and reach a larger audience, read How Iterable + Meta Custom Audiences Can Attract New Users.

# Prerequisites
To connect your Iterable project to Meta, you must:
Have admin or advertiser permissions for the Meta account, or be the account owner.
Accept the Custom Audience terms of service for your Meta ad account. (On your Meta business page, go to All tools > Ads Manager > Audiences.)
# Setup instructions
- In Iterable, go to Integrations > Integrations Hub.
Click Connect to Meta Ads Manager.
-
When prompted, enter your Meta credentials and log in.
NOTE
You may be asked to grant permission to Meta's Ads Manager. You only have to do this once per Meta account.
Select the ad account(s) you want to add to Iterable. You can find your Meta ad account ID(s) in Meta Ads Manager. To learn more, see Find Your Meta Ad Account ID in the Meta Business Help Center.
Click Submit.
On success, your Meta ad account is connected to Iterable. If necessary, you can repeat these steps to connect multiple accounts.
# Exporting an Iterable list to Meta
Once you've connected your Meta ad account to Iterable, you can start exporting your Iterable lists to Meta Custom Audiences. (Keep in mind: In order for users to be added to a Meta Custom Audience, their email address must be associated with a Meta account.)
When you export a list to Meta, Iterable passes only the email field
(hashed using SHA256, following Meta's API requirements).
To export a list from Iterable to Meta:
Navigate to Audience > Lists.
Click the list you want to export.
Choose the Meta Custom Audience export option.
Use the dropdown to select a Meta ad account ID.
Enter the Audience Name and Audience Description. (This will show up in your Meta Custom Audience account.) Click Export.
-
In your Meta ad account, go to Audiences (or refresh your page if you're already there). It may take a few minutes for the list to update.
NOTE
If you export the same list twice using the same name, it will create a second Meta Custom Audience. (The first one is not overwritten.)
# Using Facebook Custom Audiences in journeys
You can use a Meta audiences tile to add users to or remove them from a Meta Custom Audience when they reach that stage of the journey. (You must have a Meta ad account to use this tile.)
When you select an ad account in the Meta Custom Audience tile, make sure the ID matches an ad account created using Iterable's segmentation tool (a list exported to Meta). If you select an ID for an ad account originally created in Meta, the journey tile may not be able to update the ad account.
# Troubleshooting
# Why can't I export users to a Custom Audience?
If you have successfully added an ad account but can't export users to a Custom Audience, make sure that:
The ad account is linked to a business account in Meta.
You have accepted the Custom Audience terms of service for the ad account in Meta. On your business page, click All tools > Ads Manager > Audiences.
