Iterable's integration with Facebook allows you to export static and dynamic lists from Iterable and create custom audiences in your Facebook Ad Center.
A Facebook Custom Audience is an ad targeting option that lets you find people who already interact with your business on Facebook. You can use sources like customer lists, engagement on Facebook, website, or app traffic to create custom audiences, and now static or dynamic lists from Iterable.
NOTE
We have updated Iterable's integration with Facebook. If you're connecting your Facebook Ad account for the first time, use the instructions below. If you have an existing Facebook integration with Iterable, you don't have to make any changes right now.

Permissions and prerequisites
Before you integrate your Iterable project with Facebook, make sure that:
You have admin or advertiser permissions for the Facebook account, or are its owner.
You have accepted the Custom Audience terms of service at the Ad Account level in Facebook. On your Facebook business page, click All tools > Ads Manager > Audiences.
Set up your Facebook integration in Iterable
Follow these steps to configure the Facebook integration:
Navigate to Integrations > Facebook.
Click Connect to Facebook.
-
If prompted, enter your Facebook credentials and log in.
NOTE
You may be asked to grant permission to Facebook's Ads Manager. You only have to do this once per Facebook account.
-
Select the Ad Accounts to add to Iterable, and click Submit.
Your Ad Accounts are now integrated with Iterable. If needed, you can add more Ad Accounts later.
TIP
It can be helpful to find the Facebook Ad Account ID for the account, so you know which accounts you're adding in Iterable. To find these IDs:
Log in to your Facebook account.
Go to the page for your business.
Navigate to Ads Manager and make note of the Ad Account ID you're going to use.
For help finding your Facebook Ad Account ID, check out Find Your Facebook Ad Account ID on the Meta Business Help Center.
Export your Iterable lists to Facebook
After integrating your Facebook Ad Account with Iterable, you can export your lists (static or dynamic) to your Facebook Custom Audience. To be added to a Facebook Custom Audience, email addresses in the exported list must be associated with a Facebook account.
When exporting your lists to Facebook, Iterable passes only the email
field
(hashed using SHA256, as per Facebook's API requirements).
To export your lists:
Navigate to Audience > Lists.
Click the list to export.
-
Choose Export As > Facebook Custom Audience.
Use the dropdown to select a Facebook Ad Account, by ID.
-
Enter the Audience Name and Audience Description. This is reflected in your Facebook Custom Audience account. Click Export.
-
In your Facebook Ad Account, go to Audiences (or refresh your page if you're already there). It may take a few minutes for the list to update.
NOTE
If you export the list a second time but use the same name, another custom audience is created. The previously created custom audience is not overwritten.
Using Facebook Custom Audiences in journeys
NOTE
This tile is only available to Iterable customers participating in the Facebook Custom Audiences for Journeys beta.
In journeys, you can use the Facebook Custom Audience tile to add users to or remove them from a Facebook Custom Audience when they reach this stage of the journey. (You must have a Facebook Ad Account to use this tile.)
When you select an Ad Account in the Facebook Custom Audience tile, ensure the ID matches an Ad Account created using Iterable's segmentation tool (a list exported to Facebook). If you select an ID for an Ad Account originally created in Facebook, the journey tile may not be able to update the Ad Account.
Troubleshooting
Why can't I export users to a Custom Audience?
If you have successfully added an Ad Account, but can't export users to a Custom Audience, make sure that:
The Ad Account is linked to a business account in Facebook.
You have accepted the Custom Audience terms of service at the Ad Account level in Facebook. On your business page, click All tools > Ads Manager > Audiences.
