In Iterable, a contact's profile shows you all the information Iterable has stored about them. For example, you might see demographic information, preferences, or events.
Events are actions your users have taken—in one of your campaigns, on your website, or in your mobile app.
You can use events to segment users, build personalized journeys, etc. For example, you might create a dynamic list of users that have not clicked on a link in a particular email campaign, or who have not opened your push notifications.
There are two broad categories of events:
-
System events - Events Iterable creates automatically based on campaign-related actions. For example:
- Email bounce
- Email click
- Email complaint
- Email open
- Email send
- Push bounce
- Push open
- Push send
- SMS send
- SMS click
- List subscribe
- List unsubscribe
Custom events - Events that generally have names of your choosing—usually related directly to some kind of action that a user has taken on your website or in your mobile app (made a purchase, converted on a campaign, completed a a signup process, etc.). You'll send custom events to Iterable using one of our APIs.
