Promote a new season to a show's biggest fans
If you've set up a custom event to track your users' show preferences (like
addedToFavorite
or startedWatching
), you can send messages about relevant
new content as soon as it becomes available on your channel.
For example, let's say you just released a new season of Pug Island to your Roku channel. You could send a blast campaign to all users who have started watching or favorited Pug Island. To do this:
Go to Audience > Segmentation and create a segment of users who are fans of Pug Island. Save your results as a list and name it something like "Pug Island Fans".
-
Create a new campaign and select the following options:
- Campaign type - Blast
- Message medium - In-App
- Destination - A configuration that includes your Roku (OTT) app
-
Add your message content. For example:
Schedule or send your campaign to the list of fans you created earlier.
The next time this campaign's recipients open your Roku channel, they'll see your message about the new season of Pug Island.
Recommend a premium subscription 7 days after a user signs up
Want to encourage your users to upgrade to a premium subscription after they've been using your service for 7 days? You can add a Roku message to one of your journeys.
Here's one way to do that:
Create a new journey. Name it something like "Premium Subscription Offer."
In the Start tile, select your organization's custom event for account signup (for example,
signUp
) as the entry source. After the Start tile, add a Delay tile. Set the duration to 7 days.
After the Delay tile, add an In-app message tile.
-
In the In-app message tile, select a Destination that includes your Roku channel. Then, attach a template to the campaign. For example:
Publish and turn on the journey.
Seven days after signing up for your service, users will receive a message encouraging them to upgrade to a premium subscription.
