This guide describes how to view, search, clone, cancel, reschedule, abort, archive and unarchive, and export metrics for your project's campaigns.
Table of contents
Overview
To manage the campaigns in your Iterable project, navigate to Messaging > All Campaigns. This screen lists all the campaigns in your project (blast and triggered, including those sent by workflows).
NOTE
To use this screen and the functionality it contains, you'll need various Workflows, Campaigns & Experiments permissions. The specific permissions you'll need depend on the actions that you're taking.
Viewing your campaigns
On the Messaging > All Campaigns screen, you can:
- View and navigate a list of your project's blast and triggered campaigns (including those sent by workflows), search them, and filter them by type, state and medium.
- Adjust the sort of the table by any header.
- Select metrics to include in the table, using the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner.
- Open a campaign by clicking on it.
TIP
To see a list of all the campaigns associated with a specific workflow, navigate to Messaging > Workflows, find the workflow, and twirl open its list of campaigns:
Searching for a campaign
On the Messaging > Campaigns screen, use the Search Campaigns input above the table to search for a campaign:
In the input, specify search criteria:
- For campaign names and IDs, enter free text.
- For other values, use the pre-defined search fields (Campaign ID, Creator, etc.).
Results match all provided search criteria.
NOTE
If you enter an invalid search parameter (for example, specifying abc
for
List ID), you'll see an error in the table of search results.
Cloning a campaign
To clone a campaign, navigate to Messaging > Campaigns, hover over the campaign, and click the Clone link that appears:
If you're using campaign folders, right-click on the campaign and click Clone:
Cloned blast campaigns
The clone of a blast campaign receives the same lists and content as the original campaign. However, Iterable does not schedule it. You can make changes to the content of a cloned campaign before sending it.
If the original campaign has an unfinished experiment (for which you can still End Experiment), the clone receives a copy of that experiment. If the original campaign has a completed experiment, the clone uses its winning variant—unless there isn't one, in which case the clone uses the control variation.
Cloned triggered campaigns
The clone of a triggered campaign receives its own campaign ID. To send the campaign, call the relevant API and pass along this new ID:
POST /api/email/target
POST /api/push/target
POST /api/sms/target
POST /api/inApp/target
POST /api/webPush/target
NOTE
If you make a clone of a triggered campaign that's in the Running state, the clone will be in the Ready state. Before you can trigger it, you'll need to open and activate it.
Canceling or rescheduling a scheduled blast campaign
To cancel or reschedule a scheduled blast campaign, navigate to Messaging > Campaigns and open the scheduled campaign. This opens its Review & Launch screen:
- To cancel the campaign, click Cancel Campaign and confirm the cancelation. After canceling, you can edit the campaign and send it immediately or reschedule it for later.
- To reschedule the campaign, click Reschedule Campaign and choose a send time, a recurrence pattern (if necessary), and time zone options. You can schedule a campaign up to 21 days in the future.
TIP
To cancel or reschedule a recurring campaign, make sure to open the parent campaign, which is in the Recurring state (as opposed to one of its already-sent instances):
Aborting a blast campaign
To prevent Iterable from sending any more messages for a particular blast campaign that's currently running, abort it. To do this, navigate to Messaging > Campaigns, open the campaign, and click Abort Campaign.
Deactivating a triggered campaign
To prevent Iterable from send any more messages for a particular triggered campaign that's currently running, deactivate it. To do this, navigate to Messaging > Campaigns, open the campaign, and click Deactivate Campaign.
Archiving and unarchiving campaigns
Archiving a campaign hides it from list of campaigns on the Messaging > Campaigns screen, but doesn't delete it.
NOTE
Archived campaigns run to completion unless you abort them.
To archive a campaign, navigate to the Messaging > Campaigns screen, hover over the campaign, and click the trash can icon its far-right edge.
To view your project's archived campaigns, scroll to the bottom of the Messaging > Campaigns screen and click the View Archived Campaigns link:
To unarchive a campaign from this screen, hover over the its row in the table and click the unarchive button:
Campaign metrics, aggregate analytics and bulk actions
To view the analytics for an individual campaign, open the campaign and use the drop-down menu to select the metrics you'd like to display:
To archive campaigns in bulk, export campaigns to CSV in bulk, or view aggregate analytics for multiple campaigns, select various campaigns and choose an option from the Bulk Actions drop-down menu (above the campaign table on the Messaging > Campaigns screen):
You can also export campaign metrics and aggregate analytics by clicking the Export Campaign Metrics By Date Range and Aggregate Analytics By Date Range buttons on the bottom of the screen.
